Anduril Delivers First Dive LD to US Navy

Anduril Industries has delivered its first Dive LD autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) to the United States Navy's Unmanned Undersea Vehicle Squadron 1 (UUVRON-1), marking a significant milestone in the service's expansion of unmanned undersea capabilities.

The Dive LD is a Large Diameter Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (LD-AUV) engineered for long duration, deep sea missions. The 3 ton vehicle can autonomously conduct missions for up to 10 days with an architecture that scales for multi week operations. It is capable of operating at depths up to 6,000 meters, making it ideal for a variety of missions including undersea battlespace intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, mine countermeasures, anti submarine warfare, and high resolution seafloor mapping.

A standout feature of the Dive LD is its 3D printed exterior and innovative internal manufacturing techniques, enabling rapidly customizable AUVs at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems. The platform costs approximately $2.5 million per unit, representing a more affordable approach to autonomous undersea capabilities.

The Dive LD was selected in August 2024 as part of the second tranche of the Pentagon's Replicator initiative, designed to rapidly mass produce autonomous systems to enhance deterrence and warfighting capabilities. The Defense Innovation Unit awarded Anduril the contract after the Dive LD performed successfully in a swim off evaluating commercially available large unmanned underwater vehicles.

Anduril's modular design allows for rapid payload integration, with operators able to swap and integrate different payloads ranging from sensors and communications packages to ISR and strike capabilities. The open systems architecture ensures compatibility with third party payloads for continuous upgrades as new technologies emerge.

To meet growing demand, Anduril is constructing a new production facility in Quonset Point, Rhode Island, with operations scheduled to commence in early 2026. The facility is expected to manufacture up to 200 Dive LD units annually.
